Backstage: Return of Chris Jericho in near future?

WWE reportedly called Chris Jericho this past week to see about making a return. He told them he had too many schedule commitments on other projects to come back right now.

Backstage: Regarding the future of The Shield

WWE has changed their plans regarding splitting up The Shield as was teased prior to WrestleMania XXX which reportedly would have seen them split up by this stage.

WWE is now keen to keep the faction together for a while longer due to the strong responses they continue to get from WWE crowds.

Another reason is the grooming of Roman Reigns. WWE officials feel he is future breakout star and main event player, but is not ready for a solo career just yet and will benefit from staying in a group with Ambrose and Rollins.

Backstage News on Batista’s WWE Future Plans

It was reported that Batista was finishing up with WWE, for the time being, after Extreme Rules tonight and was scheduled to face Daniel Bryan at Payback but turned that match down.

PWInsider has updated their report and notes that people backstage at Extreme Rules today say that Batista is intimating that he is staying on through Payback after all. We should know soon enough if Batista is taking off this week or if he’s just obscuring the situation.
