This seems incredibly unlikely but would be unbelievably amazing if it happened.
Despite the fact that he has yet to speak publicly about, well, anything, CM Punk is still in the pro wrestling news for various reasons, be it Paul Heyman explaining his promo about “The Straight Edge Superstar” in Chicagoor an engagement to current WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee.
Now, Stone Cold Steve Austin has done his part by revealing he’s predicting Punk will make his return to WWE at WrestleMania 30 this Sun., April 6, 2014, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
From the latest episode of The Steve Austin Show:
"I’m telling you, I’m going to stick to my prediction that CM Punk is going to make his return at WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans. I made this prediction two months ago here on the show. It’s been a long time, I think he’s cooled his jets, he’s got some rest, and I think it’s time to get back to work. I don’t see him participating in a match but it would be great to see him in a run-in to establish himself, to entrench himself immediately in a memorable and just a great moment, and I would say plant himself firmly in the middle of an angle, because he would be the angle, by attacking whoever he sees fit to attack or asserting his presence rather, whatever the case may be. But I see CM Punk coming back at WrestleMania 30. Who knows if it will happen. We will know in about six short days when WrestleMania actually happens."
Assuming this is even a possibility, and it may not be, there are multiple matches Punk could conceivably get involved in, including Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar, Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H, or Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Bryan/Triple H. Hell, he could even get involved in the John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt match, though that wouldn’t make nearly as much sense as any of the others.
Perhaps he could help Lesnar in an attempt to break Undertaker’s streak. Maybe he stops “The Game” from screwing over Bryan and sends him to the main event to wrestle for the WWE world heavyweight title like he said he wanted him to. There are a number of options if the scenario Austin describes is actually on the table.
And, hey, WWE has yet to bury Punk in any way since he left, instead choosing not to mention him at all, a lesson learned, ironically enough, from Austin’s walk out back in 2002.
