Possible CM Punk return set?

A trusted source within the WWE community spoke exclusively with WWE Examiner on Monday and revealed that CM Punk (real name Phillip Brooks) may return to Monday Night Raw on the March 3rd edition of the long-running flagship WWE program, which originates from the superstar’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois on that occasion.

The source in question - the same individual who was the first to correctly report Hulk Hogan’s return to WWE Examiner - says nothing is set in stone, but that Punk is not “totally against” appearing at the March broadcast, setting up a new feud that will enable the Chicago grappler to appear at WrestleMania XXX the following month.

Although the source maintains that the CM Punk “walk off” angle is a work, Punk is legitimately tired, burned out, and in need of a protracted rest. Nonetheless, the Straight Edge Superstar is a smart businessman. And it’s believed - but not confirmed - that Punk is working directly with Vince McMahon on possible scenarios for a temporary comeback before taking a longer break.

The WWE absolutely needs CM Punk at this point, particularly with next week’s launch of the WWE Network. With DISH Network believed to be pulling the plug on WWE Pay-Per-Views, the company needs all hands on deck and all eyes on their product, something much more likely to happen if CM Punk is still appearing on WWE programming.

"There’s disappointment and frustration, but no ill-will or bad blood," the source says of CM Punk’s supposed relationship with WWE management today. "At the end of the day, Phil loves professional wrestling and I can’t imagine him wanting the WWE’s milestone pay-per-view [WrestleMania XXX] to take place without him on the card."
